Pathological splitting

The term pathological splitter is used to describe someone who almost compulsively splits numbers into their component parts, irrespective of the question asked. For example for 53-27, a pathological splitter would split both numbers - either in to 50 and 3 and 20 and 7, or 5 and 3 and 2 and 7. The term pathological splitter was introduced by Rousham (2003).
